Dr. Anil Kumar has been a practicing urologist in the Metro Detroit area for the past 30 years. He received his B.S. Degree, Bachelor of Medicine, and Master of Surgery education from the University of Bombay. Dr. Kumar was appointed as a research fellow at Wayne State University in the Department of Urology. After completing his residency in Urology and a fellowship in transplant surgery, he started private practice in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Dr. Kumar has been dedicated to serving the medical field through his practice and by teaching medical students and residents. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor for Michigan State University and as site director for the Urology residency program at Crittenton Hospital. He has been a lifelong teacher and has published numerous articles.

Wayne State University helped Dr. Kumar realize his American dream. Apart from his career, he also met his wife there, when she was a medical student at WSU. He also had the delight of seeing both his sons attend WSU for their undergraduate degrees, and his eldest continued his education at WSU's medical school. Marjorie and Dr. Kumar have actively participated in the WSU alumni association.

Dr. Kumar has been a member of the board of the Oakland County Medical Society, member of the Michigan State Medical Society. He is the owner and CEO of the Kumar Surgery Center. He has been Chief of Staff at the North Oakland Medical Center, Chief of Surgery at Crittenton Hospital and is currently Chief of Staff at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital. He previously had been part owner and chairman of the board at Doctor's Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan.

Dr. Kumar is dedicated to public service and has been a candidate for Michigan's 11th District Congressional seat. His primary aim is reform of healthcare and education.

Dr. Kumar resides in Bloomfield Hills and continues to practice medicine in Rochester Hills, Pontiac, and Troy.
